Sophia joined the Center in 2014 as an Associate Specialist in the Virology Unit. She advanced to the role of Manager-Taiwan Projects and Virologist in 2018, and was promoted to Manager-Taiwan Projects and Administrator-Research Infrastructure in 2023. She has extensive experience in coordinating and managing multi-country projects implemented across Africa and Asia, and in strengthening communication and collaboration between the Center and a wide range of partners and stakeholders at national, regional, and international levels.
She is also an accomplished researcher with a strong background in both collaborative and independent work in plant pathology and biotechnology, focusing on the research of plant virology and development of new and improved crop varieties with enhanced resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
